The Adams 36 has the styling of some of the classic 1950's designs with curved sheerline, nicely propotional ends and doghouse so characteristic of that era. There is even the calssic masthead cutter rig with high cut yankee and self tacking staysail which is to this day hard to beat for ease of handling and effeciency.

The design is of moderate displacement to length ratio. However she shares the easy driven lines of lighter designs while providing a high load carrying ability to suit the requirements of a live aboard family.

In common with modern style designs the Adams 36 has a moderate beam, firm bilges and wide stern sections which makes them fast and easy handlers when reaching or running.

The sail plan is quite powerful and in keeping with the idea of a cruising yacht that can sail well in light winds (getting you there in reasonable time.)

The Adams 36 has excellent directional stability. With a water line of 9.1mtrs (30ft), she has the power and speed potential of many larger yachts.

In keeping with the needs of a small crew, the Adams 36 has high gunwale cappings to give foothold when going forward as well as a deep and well sheltered cockpit. The doghouse extends aft to form a cuddy cabin over the forward end of the cockpit.
